I’ve tried several different versions of these from different brands, and the stiffer outer rubber coating on these makes all the difference. Without that rubberized layer, these are like yoga mats. I probably would choose the thickest option next time, but 0.56″ is acceptable.

Great alternative to thick smelly rubber.
For my gym I have the thick all rubber mats but I recently added a pendulum squat so I had to kick the leg extension machine across the way and it needed its own mat but I didn’t want the strong smell of rubber again and the sharp corners so this is a great alternative.

These floor mats are great!
I haven’t put these on my basement floor yet, but I can tell they are going to work very well. I plan to put them under an area rug in my craft room to help with long periods of standing while I work. It will be much better and more comfortable! I got the black with white flecks and I think they look cool. Super easy to clean, there’s a firm rubber top coat that makes it easy to wipe up spills and protects the foam from constant use. The thickness is about 1/2 inch, which is good for providing stability without being a trip hazard. I recommend getting the edging if you can to keep from damaging the fitted pieces. They interlock tightly which means no slipping.

This is a great soft yet firm product with a rubber surface. This was easy to piece together, is durable, comes in 2’x2′ interlocking squares and feels great to stand on. For myself, it is like an anti-fatigue mat to keep your back and legs from getting sore if your standing in one place too long.
